What is the purpose of soffit ?
The soffit protects your home from structural damage by not allowing snow and rain to penetrate into your home.
Without protection, this moisture caused by snow and rain will penetration into your home which will lead to rotting in your rafters and sheathing also could lead to mold . Soffits and fascia fortify water entry points, thereby preventing damage to the frame of the house. Soffit also allows airflow to distribute in your attic allowing it to breath, by bringing fresh air in, up through the soffit and letting hot and humid air to leave through the roof vents at the top.
